OpenSea’s Official Discord Hacked

Scammers have hacked into the Discord server of NFT marketplace OpenSea. It posted a message about the release of new NFTs with YouTube. Users were prompted to go to a website which domain contained the name of the video hosting service, but was not an official resource. Victims believed they could get one of the first NFTs from the new YouTube project by connecting their wallets.

It is not yet known what the exact amount of damage is. Thirteen NFTs – none of the high-value collections – worth just under $20,000 have been transferred to the wallet address provided by the affected users, if the stolen NFTs are sold at the minimum collection price. It also owns $93.50 in ETH. This address has not been flagged as a phishing address on Etherscan.

The company said it was investigating the incident and urged users not to click on any links on the server.

In March, the NFT project Rare Bears suffered a similar hacking attack. The attacker posted a phishing link on the project's Discord channel and managed to steal 179 non-exchangeable tokens from various collections. Most of the stolen NFTs have been sold, the hacker managed to get 286 ETH, which was almost $800k.
