OpenAI has introduced Deep Research, a dedicated autonomous mode within ChatGPT designed for in-depth investigations.

Unlike standard AI interactions, Deep Research operates independently—users provide a command, and the model conducts a comprehensive analysis across the web, synthesizing information from texts, PDFs, and images. Powered by OpenAI’s latest o3 model, it completes research in minutes, a task that would otherwise take humans hours.

OpenAI describes Deep Research as a major step toward AGI, aiming to deliver human-level reasoning and problem-solving. The feature is designed for professionals in finance, science, policy, and engineering who require meticulous, accurate, and reliable research. However, it can also assist everyday users, such as shoppers looking for hyper-personalized recommendations.

Deep Research will be exclusive to Pro subscribers initially, with a limit of 100 deep research requests per month. OpenAI plans to roll it out to Plus, Team, and Enterprise plans in the future.
