Elon Musk’s company Neuralink has successfully implanted its brain chip in a third patient, the billionaire announced during a live event in Las Vegas streamed on X.
According to Musk, all three implants are functioning well, and the company plans to ramp up procedures in 2025, aiming to implant 20–30 more devices.
Neuralink’s second patient received the chip in August 2024, and Musk previously noted that the device with 400 electrodes has delivered promising results.
The company is also developing Blindsight, a brain implant designed to restore vision to people born blind. Musk stated in September 2024 that the first version would offer limited image quality but could eventually allow users to see in ultraviolet and infrared spectrums.
