Elon Musk tweeted that Neuralink's upcoming "Show & Tell" event has been postponed by a month. It will take place on 30 November instead of 31 October as originally announced in August. Musk did not provide a reason for the postponement of the event.
Musk founded Neuralink in 2016. It aims to implant wireless brain computer chips to treat neurological conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, dementia and spinal cord injuries, and to merge humanity with artificial intelligence.
At last week's presentation, Neuralink showed a monkey playing pong with its mind. Since then, Musk has been frustrated by the slow progress in getting regulatory approval for his devices. Musk is also reportedly thinking of investing in a rival brain chip company. Thus, he has approached Synchron Inc, a developer of brain implant chips, about a potential investment.
Back in 2019, Musk said in a presentation that Neuralink intends to obtain regulatory approval for trials to implant the chips in people by the end of 2020, but the company has yet to obtain such approval and bring the product to market.
