A study by digital consulting company Publicis Sapient found that millennials are more interested in using cryptocurrency to pay for travel, as well as AR/VR to experience the destination, than generations Z and X.

For all groups, the cost of travel remains a major issue. That said, different generations have different attitudes towards the use of digital assets and usage. AR/VR to familiarise themselves with the travel destination before traveling. Members of generation x are least interested in this, and generation Z are somewhat interested in it.

Generation Z prefers a person to help them make their reservations, which is surprising because, as Publicis Sapient's group vice president, travel and hospitality, international markets, Nick Shay said, Generation Z is to be the most independent when it comes to booking online.

Generation Z expects a 'once-in-a-lifetime' experience when making travel choices, while millennials look for 'safe and secure' travel and sustainability is a driving factor when choosing a destination.

The study involved 3,000 respondents from Generations Z (age 18-25), Millennial (age 26-40) and Gen X (age 41-57) in the UAE, the UK and the US.
