Microsoft may be planning a rebrand for its AI-powered assistant, Copilot, according to recent findings reported by TechRadar.

Code discovered in Windows 11 suggests that Microsoft is now labeling AI features under the unified name "Windows Intelligence." While it’s unclear if this change will be applied across the board, TechRadar speculates that the new name could be a deliberate echo of Apple’s "Apple Intelligence" branding, or simply a striking coincidence.

Microsoft’s possible decision to align with Apple’s branding suggests that it sees this as a way to strengthen the concept of an AI-powered operating system in users' minds.

However, Microsoft has used the term Windows Intelligence before, though it was typically applied to cybersecurity updates:

  • Microsoft wants AI, regardless of its name, to be embedded across all Windows products.
  • Windows Intelligence could replace Copilot’s form, turning this AI assistant into a Windows Intelligence product rather than a standalone tool.
  • Importantly, this potential rebranding doesn’t mean that the chatbot will be pushed into the background.

As a reminder, Microsoft launched its Copilot chatbot on Telegram in May. The AI is designed to perform various tasks and answer user questions directly within the app. Telegram founder Pavel Durov responded to the launch, saying:

I’m not surprised to see major tech companies launching their applications on Telegram.
