Meta is expanding its smart eyewear portfolio with a new strategic partnership with Oakley, launching a performance-oriented category of AI glasses aimed at athletes and active users.

The first product in the new line, the Oakley Meta HSTN (pronounced “how-stuhn”), will be available for preorder starting July 11 at a retail price of $499. The limited-edition model will be followed later this summer by additional Oakley frames powered by Meta technology, with prices starting at $399. Meta also confirmed plans to introduce the Oakley Meta HSTN to the United Arab Emirates later this year.

Just like the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, the Oakley model includes a front-facing 12MP ultra-wide camera capable of 3K video recording, along with open-ear speakers, microphones, and full Bluetooth connectivity. Users can listen to music, make calls, send and receive texts, capture POV content, or livestream — all without pulling out their phone.

The glasses integrate Meta’s onboard AI assistant, activated with “Hey Meta.” The AI can describe what the camera sees, answer contextual questions, translate languages, and even provide real-time information — such as weather conditions or wind speed on a golf course. Meta is also rolling out live translation features and accessibility support, including integration with the Be My Eyes volunteer network.

Meta positions the new Oakley glasses as “Performance AI glasses,” optimized for real-world athletic use — from training to everyday wear. With an IPX4 water resistance rating and up to 8 hours of battery life (plus 48 hours via the charging case), they’re engineered for endurance.

The collection will feature five Oakley frame and lens combinations, including prescription-ready options and colorways such as warm grey, black, clear, and brown smoke. The limited-edition launch model includes gold PRIZM lenses and gold accents — a nod to Oakley’s legacy in performance eyewear.
