MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9600 Pro, its new flagship smartphone processor manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process.

The chip is positioned against Samsung’s Exynos 2600 and puts MediaTek ahead of Qualcomm in announcing a 2nm flagship mobile platform.

Its Fusion Architecture distributes AI workloads between the CPU and neural processor. MediaTek says the chip can run AI models with up to 30 billion parameters directly on a smartphone.

Key specifications include:

  • A 2+3+3 CPU design with speeds of up to 4.55GHz
  • LPDDR6 memory and UFS 5.0 storage
  • Two neural processors with 51% higher LLM prefill performance and 40% lower power consumption for always-on AI
  • Up to 17% higher single-core and 15% higher multi-core CPU performance
  • A GPU with integrated neural accelerators and 18% faster ray tracing
  • Native 4K slow-motion recording at 240 fps and 4K cinematic log video at 120 fps
  • Bluetooth 6.2 and AI-assisted cellular and satellite connectivity

The first smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9600 Pro are expected to launch this quarter. MediaTek has not named the devices.
