Instagram Is Testing AI-Generated Comments

Instagram has started testing a new feature that uses Meta’s AI to generate comments on behalf of users.

The update was first spotted by user Jonah Manzano and picked up by TechCrunch. When commenting on a Reel or post, some users now see a pencil icon — tapping it opens Meta AI, which then suggests multiple comment options. Don’t like them? You can generate a new batch.

Meta confirmed it’s experimenting with various AI features across its platforms but hasn’t shared when or if the tool will be rolled out more widely.

According to TechCrunch, reactions could be mixed — not everyone will appreciate AI-generated replies, especially when they expect real, personal messages from their friends.
