Humane has officially halted sales of the AI Pin and will disable its cloud-based features on February 28, 2025, according to the company’s website.

Users are advised to download their data by the end of the month, as all stored information will be permanently deleted. While basic offline functions (such as battery level display) will still work, any features requiring cloud connectivity—voice interactions, AI responses, and more—will be shut down.

Humane is offering refunds, but only for devices purchased within the last 90 days. Subscribers who signed up for Humane services after February 28 will receive a prorated refund.

The company has already been acquired by HP for $116 million, giving HP access to over 300 patents, the CosmOS operating system, and Humane’s technical team. Notably, in May 2024, Humane had sought a $1 billion valuation for a potential sale.

Launched in April 2024, the AI Pin received overwhelmingly negative reviews. The Verge’s David Pierce called it “a device that just doesn’t work,” while tech YouTuber Marques Brownlee labeled it “the worst product I've ever reviewed.”

According to Bloomberg, Humane’s leadership and team—including co-founders Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno—will form a new division at HP, called HP IQ. Their focus will be integrating AI into HP’s computers, printers, and conference room technology, positioning HP IQ as an innovation lab for AI-driven workplace solutions.
