The Hugging Face platform, known for its AI tools, has unveiled two new humanoid robots — HopeJR and Reachy Mini, reports TechCrunch.
Both models are designed with a focus on openness and are available for self-assembly, study, and modification. HopeJR is a full-sized humanoid capable of walking, moving its arms, grasping, and transporting objects. It is aimed at developers looking to experiment with physical AI and mechatronics.
Reachy Mini is a more compact desktop version. The robot can turn its head, listen, speak, and serve as an interface for testing AI applications and interacting with users.
Hugging Face co-founder and CEO Clément Delangue noted that the open-source code and documentation will allow anyone to understand how these robots work and adapt them to their own needs. According to him, the launch was made possible by the acquisition of the startup Pollen Robotics, which specializes in humanoid platforms.
Preliminary pricing:
The first units are expected to ship by the end of 2025. The waitlist is already open. Previously, Hugging Face, in partnership with The Robot Studio, also released an updated version of the SO-101 robotic arm, capable of performing basic object manipulation tasks.
