Google is rolling out a new feature called Call Reason for Android devices, allowing callers to tag their outgoing calls as urgent. The announcement was published on the company’s official blog.
The feature is currently in beta and is gradually expanding to Android smartphones. The idea is simple: the person placing the call can flag it as urgent, and the recipient will see the label on the incoming call screen, helping them decide whether they should pick up immediately.

If the recipient misses the call, the urgency tag will remain visible in the missed calls list. Google says this should encourage users to call back without needing extra reminders.
For the feature to work, a few basic conditions must be met. Both parties need to be using Android phones, since third-party apps do not support the function. The callers must also be saved in each other’s contacts; without that, the urgent label will not appear.
Google plans to introduce the feature in stages, and users can check for updates through the Play Store. For now, the only available tag is “Urgent,” though the company may add more options in the future, such as custom notes or emoji labels.
