Google has expanded Gemini with the ability to generate full documents directly inside the chat, the company announced on its blog.
The feature is already rolling out to all users with no paywall. Gemini now produces files in a wide range of formats, including PDF, DOCX, XLSX, and CSV, with the option to export them to Google Drive.
Support also extends to LaTeX, TXT, RTF, and Markdown, as well as native Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
The feature is built around productivity workflows. Users can turn uploaded files and text prompts into ready-to-share documents in a single chat exchange. In one demo, Google showed Gemini generating a detailed PDF study guide from photos of handwritten notes — including diagrams, charts, and mathematical formulas rendered cleanly in the final file.
Gemini is Google DeepMind's AI chatbot, launched in 2023 as Bard and rebranded to Gemini in February 2024.
