Biometric tech enables customers to pay for their shopping using facial recognition scanners.

A pioneering role in implementing the facial recognition payment system in Dubai perform Majid Al Futtaim-owned Carrefour stores. Currently the system is being implemented in Deira and Amsaf.

Customers can activate the Face Pay option via Carrefour app or website. The stores aim to enhance customers experience and make shopping more convenient. Bernardo Perloiro, Chief Operating Officer – GCC at Majid Futtaim Retail, said:

"Carrefour is a leader in introducing new technologies that enhance the customer experience, while finding solutions that can eliminate friction."

Developed by PopID and provisioned through Network International’s acceptance network the facial recognition system will be successfully adopted across the UAE.

Andrew Key, Group Managing Director – Acquiring at Network International, said: "We are thrilled to continue driving the evolution of biometric payments with the UAE’s first-of-its-kind face verification platform."
