Dubai has formed the Higher Committee for Future Technology and Digital Economy. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, chairman of the committee, said that the new body aims to "promote Dubai's supremacy in the digital economy globally."

The committee will consist of eight members. They will oversee the implementation of policies related to the digital economy and future technologies in Dubai.

It will develop policies for emerging technologies such as the metaverse, artificial intelligence, blockchain, Web3, virtual reality, augmented reality, data centres and cloud computing. In addition, it will identify the skills that are needed for the digital sectors and advise the economic sectors on the digital economy.

The committee will also network with international companies and organise various events related to the digital economy and future technologies.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed said:

We are working as a team to enhance Dubai's position as a global birthplace and research laboratory for future technologies and one of the world's top 10 metaverse economies, in line with the Dubai Metaverse Strategy.
