The team behind the dating app RAW is developing a smart ring — the RAW Ring — designed to help couples detect signs of infidelity, according to The Verge.

The device is expected to include a skin temperature sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and heart rate monitor. If a user’s metrics deviate significantly from their baseline, their partner will receive a notification.

The idea, according to RAW, is to help couples understand each other on a deeper emotional level and build trust-based relationships.

The ring will feature a “two-layer AI system”: one layer will process biometric and voice data, while the other will conduct deeper analysis. The neural network will then suggest possible explanations for the changes — distinguishing, for example, between physical exercise, anxiety, or sexual arousal.

The concept has been met with skepticism online, with critics accusing the company of promoting surveillance culture. Others questioned the accuracy of such emotional tracking and whether the device might foster paranoia or unhealthy dependence within relationships.

RAW says couples will be able to customize data sharing preferences, including which metrics are shared and when.

The RAW Ring is currently in the concept stage. A working prototype is planned for September 2025, with sales expected to begin in early 2026.
