Cadillac has officially unveiled the electric car concept Celestiq, which will soon turn into a production model.
The designers took inspiration from early Cadillac sedans, including the pre-war coaches, V-16 powered carriage and the hand-built 1957 Eldorado Brougham.
The production version of the Cadillac Celestiq is known to get a 55-inch screen in the cabin - from one door to the other. At that technology will make it so the driver will not be able to see and hear what the passenger will be watching on his side of the screen. There will also be screens for the rear passengers, who can enjoy streaming videos, surf the internet, check emails or work while travelling.
The car will be equipped with Ultra Cruise hands-free driver assistance technology, which GM claims is capable of handling "nearly every road including city streets, subdivision streets and paved rural roads, in addition to highways."
The Smart Glass Roof features Suspended Particle Device technology to divide the roof into four quadrants so passengers can adjust the lighting themselves by controlling the clarity of the glass.
The hand-built Celestiq will go into production in late 2023. The EV could cost around $300,000, well above the options of other luxury EVs including the Lucid Air Dream Edition, Porsche Taycan Turbo S and Tesla Model X Plaid.
