BMW has announced the new i7 xDrive60 electric luxury sedan 7 Series. It is equipped with two electric motors, which will work on the principle of "synchronous machine with current supply," which allows "a precisely metered supply of electrical energy" to cause "excitation of the rotor.
Claimed total power of the novelty at the level of 544 horsepower, torque - 745 Nm. Acceleration from zero to a hundred is in 4.7 seconds. The top speed is limited to 240 km/h. Cruising range of the electric car is "up to 300 miles" or 483 km. The i7 xDrive60 battery provides 101.7 kWh of usable energy.
Cumulative energy consumption will be 19.7-18.9 kWh per 100 km, which is lower than BMW had previously announced. For comparison, the Tesla Model S (the most powerful in its class) has a battery capacity of 100 kWh, and the flagship Mercedes-Benz EQS with a range of almost 600 km has a battery capacity of 107.8 kWh.
BMW has completely redesigned the radiator grille "to achieve a modern and distinctive look. It is outlined by a narrow band of LEDs of "exclusive crystal glass. There's crystal inside the i7, including on the dashboard and center console in the form of the shifter knob.
The BMW Theatre Screen has a 31-inch diagonal, 32:9 ratio and 8K resolution, turning the sedan into a movie theater on wheels. It's designed for the rear passengers and extends out of the roof liner. It's panoramic and glass, by the way. It is called Sky Lounge and is distinguished by the presence of LED light threads.
For the driver there is a curved display, which is located behind the steering wheel and extends to half of the dashboard. It's 12.3 inches diagonal and is complemented by a central 14.9-inch screen. Each door has its own 5.5-inch touchscreen to control climate control, seat settings and the multimedia system.
The starting price is $120,295. Pre-orders are available starting today, with deliveries expected to start in late 2022.
