Evans Hankey, Apple's head of industrial design, is leaving the company after three years in the job. She was appointed to the role in 2019 following the departure of Jony Ive, who led Apple's design department for two decades.
Hankey has announced that she will remain at the company for the next six months. She currently oversees the work of several dozen industrial designers, and the company has not yet officially announced who will replace her.
The senior design team has strong leaders with decades of experience. Evans plans to remain in her position while we work through the transition, and we would like to thank her for her leadership and contributions,
an Apple spokesperson said in a statement.
Under Evans' leadership, Apple’s products such as iPhone 12 through iPhone 14 models and M1 MacBooks were launched.
According to Bloomberg, Hankey's departure comes at a time when Apple is working on key new devices, including a mixed reality headset due out next year and augmented reality glasses that will arrive later. There is also the possibility of an electric car in this decade.
