Apple has officially introduced the new MacBook Air with the M4 chip, as announced on its website.
One of the standout features is a new Sky Blue finish—a light metallic blue that creates a dynamic gradient effect depending on the lighting. The MacBook Air M4 is also available in Midnight, Starlight, and Silver.
The laptop comes in 13.6-inch and 15.3-inch variants, featuring a Liquid Retina display with 500 nits of brightness. It now supports up to two external 6K displays and includes an upgraded 12MP Center Stage camera that keeps the user in the frame during video calls.
Apple has equipped the new MacBook Air with three microphones for enhanced voice clarity and spatial audio with Dolby Atmos for immersive sound. Other features include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, MagSafe charging, two Thunderbolt ports, Touch ID, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The MacBook Air M4 is 23x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Air and features a Neural Engine that accelerates AI-driven tasks, making it 3x faster than the M1 MacBook Air. The battery life remains up to 18 hours.
Apple highlighted that video editing in iMovie is 8x faster than the fastest Intel MacBook Air and 2x faster than the M1 model. Similarly, photo editing in Adobe Photoshop is 3.6x faster than the fastest Intel model and 2x faster than the M1 version.
The M4 chip features a powerful 10-core CPU, an up to 10-core GPU, and support for up to 32GB of unified memory, making the new MacBook Air up to 2x faster than the M1 model, Apple stated.
Additionally, the M4 MacBook Air will support Apple Intelligence AI features. With the upcoming macOS Sequoia 15.4 update next month, users will be able to seamlessly sync their MacBook Air with an iPhone by simply bringing the devices close together—allowing for easy login, file transfers, photo sharing, messages, and password management.
Pre-orders are already open in 28 countries and regions, including the U.S., with official sales beginning on March 12.
