Apple CEO Tim Cook is reportedly replacing the head of the company’s AI division, Bloomberg reports. The decision comes amid delays in launching Apple Intelligence and the long-promised "smarter" Siri.
Cook is said to have "lost confidence" in former AI chief John Giannandrea and has appointed Mike Rockwell—creator of the Vision Pro—as his replacement. According to Bloomberg, Rockwell is one of the few Apple executives who successfully brought a major device from concept to market. Apple is expected to notify staff of the leadership change this week.
The delay in rolling out AI features has sparked frustration among users. Law firm Clarkson Law has filed a lawsuit against Apple, seeking compensation for customers who bought iPhones and other devices expecting Apple Intelligence features.
Clarkson argues that buyers were led to believe AI tools introduced in summer 2024 would be available in the iPhone 16 lineup. Instead, only some features rolled out in October—and several were disabled due to bugs. The firm is now pursuing class action status for the case.
Back in March 2025, Bloomberg reported that the fully upgraded Siri may not arrive until 2027. Apple responded by saying it simply needs more time to get it right.
