Apple continues to fill out the team which is working on the creation of the future car. This time the company has hired Luigi Taraborrelli, one of Lamborghini's top car development managers.
Luigi Taraborrelli worked for 20 years at Lamborghini, most recently as head of the chassis and vehicle dynamics. Under him, the Urus, Huracan and Aventador models were created, as well as the Huracan Sterrato SUV and the Asterion concept car.
Apple has been hiring for a long time. Hundreds of former engineers from Tesla, Rivian, Waymo, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz are already working on the car project. The company also has former senior designers from Tesla, McLaren, Porsche and Aston Martin on staff.
However, Apple is facing staff turnover. Former project manager Doug Field and artificial intelligence specialist Ian Goodfellow have recently left the company.
The car project is now led by Kevin Lynch, who also oversees the Apple Watch and health software teams, and John Giannandrea, the company's head of machine learning.
