One enthusiast has created the program AKA ISG, which enables to embed files into videos and upload them to YouTube, using the video hosting as storage.

The author emphasizes that YouTube has no restrictions on the number of videos that can be uploaded. This means that video hosting can become virtually endless cloud storage.

The below video is a demo of the program:

ISG is a program I wrote that lets you embed any files inside a video that survives compression on YouTube. They can be downloaded back and the files retrieved. This results in practically infinite storage space as long as YouTube doesn't start complaining.

The developer described two possible ways of installing the tool — recommended and easier.

The program creator warns that the binary file is not an exe file, so it will not work on Windows. If the tool becomes popular, an .exe file may be added in the future.

There are several steps to use the tool:

  • You need to archive all the files that will be uploaded to the video, and then — run the executable file.
  • You need to use the embed option in the archive, after which the video can be uploaded to your YouTube channel.

When downloading an already uploaded video from YouTube, you can use the dislodge option to return your files from the uploaded video.
