An increasing number of iPhone 16 Pro users are experiencing touchscreen responsiveness problems, with taps and swipes often being ignored during everyday interactions like scrolling and typing.

The issue, widely reported online, seems to stem from an overly sensitive touch rejection algorithm in iOS rather than a hardware malfunction.

Users report that unintentional screen contact, particularly near the edges, may trigger the system to reject intended touches. The problem is more frequent on phones without cases, though it can still happen with cases on. The issue affects iPhones running both iOS 18 and the iOS 18.1 beta.

Apple is expected to address the problem with a future software update.
