The upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumored to feature significantly faster charging speeds.

According to ITHome, the iPhone 16 Pro models will support 20W charging with MagSafe and 40W wired fast charging. This is a notable increase from the iPhone 15 lineup, which supports 27W wired fast charging and 15W MagSafe charging.

The iPhone 16 Pro models will also have larger batteries compared to their predecessors, which could offset the faster charging speeds. Here are the battery capacities for the iPhone 15 lineup:

  • iPhone 15: 3,349 mAh
  • iPhone 15 Plus: 4,383 mAh
  • iPhone 15 Pro: 3,274 mAh
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max: 4,422 mAh

And the rumored capacities for the iPhone 16 lineup:

  • iPhone 16: 3,561 mAh (up 6.3%)
  • iPhone 16 Plus: 4,006 mAh (down 8.6%)
  • iPhone 16 Pro: 3,355 mAh (up 2.5%)
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max: 4,676 mAh (up 5.7%)

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also notes that the iPhone 16 batteries will have greater energy density and that Apple is testing ways to make these batteries easier to replace, potentially through a new metal casing design.
