Threads celebrates its one-year anniversary with over 175 million monthly active users

Meta's social media platform Threads has surpassed 175 million monthly active users as it approaches its first anniversary, according to an announcement by CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

Launched on July 3, 2023, Threads has seen rapid growth, especially amid changes at X (formerly Twitter) under Elon Musk. In comparison, Musk recently claimed X has 600 million monthly active users, though it's unclear if this includes automated accounts or spam bots.

Meta shared insights into user behavior on Threads, revealing that 63% of posts are text-only, with a quarter including at least one image. Popular tags include PhotographyThreads, BookThreads, and GymThreads.

The platform's success is partly attributed to its integration with Instagram and its focus on user-requested features, such as a web app, trending topics, and an edit button.
