Similar to the Copilot sidebars seen in various Microsoft applications, Windows Copilot will be seamlessly integrated into Windows 11, accessible from the taskbar across all apps and programs.
With the Windows Copilot sidebar always available, users can benefit from its assistance in taking action, customizing settings, and effortlessly connecting across favorite apps. According to Panos Panay, Microsoft's head of Windows and devices, Windows Copilot aims to empower every user, making them a power user with its personal assistant capabilities.
Windows Copilot offers a range of features, including the ability to summarize, rewrite, and explain content viewed within apps. It features a familiar dialog box similar to Bing Chat, enabling users to ask general questions and seek information that would typically be directed to a search engine.
Notably, Windows Copilot will not replace the search bar on the Windows 11 taskbar but will appear as a separate button alongside it.
Windows Copilot will undergo public testing in June, followed by a broader rollout to existing Windows 11 users.
