The latest green screen functionality will enhance the clarity of the virtual background surrounding your face, thereby eliminating any blurriness.

Microsoft is introducing a new green screen feature to its Teams platform that aims to enhance the existing virtual backgrounds. By improving the sharpness and definition of the background around your face, head, ears, or hair, the feature will ensure a better experience for users. Although it is optimized for use with a dedicated green screen, it can also function with a solid color green or a clear background wall.

To obtain the best results, users must ensure that the screen or background wall is flat and free of blemishes or other inconsistencies. In a blog post, Jan Steberl, Microsoft Teams program manager, explained that users should select a backdrop color carefully to ensure that the effect is applied correctly and that the best possible quality is achieved.

The green screen feature is currently available in the public preview channel of Microsoft Teams and can be accessed after selecting a background effect during a Teams meeting. You can then select the color of the wall behind you, or green if you have a dedicated green screen.

The feature is currently only supported on Windows and macOS devices that have Intel chips, ruling out any AMD-powered laptops or Macs with M1 or M2 chips. Additionally, the green screen feature disables any background blur and is not yet supported in Together Mode.
