A new state law requires porn sites to use age-verifying technology to ensure that minors are not able to access their content. This move is a part of the law.

As of the start of 2023, Pornhub viewers in Louisiana must verify their age through the LA Wallet App in order to access content, according to Vice. The move is part of a new law that requires porn sites to use age-verification technology to prevent minors from accessing "material harmful to minors on the internet," which is defined as anyone under the age of 18.

The law also applies to digital publishers whose content is at least 33.3% sexually explicit, and publishers who do not comply with the law may face fines. Similar laws requiring age checks have also been implemented in Australia and the UK. However, some experts have raised concerns about data privacy and the potential for the law to be used to target and surveil LGBTQ individuals and sex workers.
