The UAE has introduced new fines for people who overstay their visa in the country. The penalties have now doubled.

Under the changes, a person will have to pay 50 dirhams for every day they overstay their visa in the UAE, up from 25 dirhams previously.

Tourist and visitor visa holders have also been affected by the changes. The Federal Port Authority for Identification, Citizenship, Customs and Security has also changed the fine for holders of tourist and visitor visas from AED 100 per day to AED 50.

The move standardises the fine for those overstaying their visa in Dubai.

Previously, the fine for overstaying depended on the type of visa, but now visitors and residents will pay the same fine.

The new entry and visa rules have been changed following the introduction of the new entry and visa regulations.
