Cyber-immune operating system KasperskyOS designed by Kaspersky Lab has been undergoing tests in two UAE companies since February, the company announced. Previously, KasperskyOS was being used only in Russia.

KasperskyOS is a specialized software platform with a high level of protection for use in various industrial systems. Business Development Director of KasperskyOS Andrey Suvorov announced that, the OS is currently being tested in two companies in the UAE, the names of which have not been revealed. The tests began in February and include closed pilot tests of gateways for the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

Some analysts believe Kaspersky Lab’s most likely partner in the UAE could be ADNOC, which controls more than 95% of the country’s oil reserves and brings the state about 30% of the oil gross income.

In conversation with Durov's Code, Samer Malak, Head of Channel and Mid Market – Middle East, Turkey, Africa at Kaspersky Lab said that currently the industry is seeing increasing attacks on critical infrastructure of heavy industries like manufacturing, oil and mining, chemicals and so on.

These attacks prove to be particularly dangerous because they can interrupt production processes or worst, affect people’s lives,

Samer Malak added.
