NASA engineers are making progress in repairing the SLS rocket after a fuel leak. They have replaced the seals and will conduct the first tests to evaluate the new seals. Crews will test them under cryogenic, or ultra-cold, conditions as soon as 17 September.

During the test, the teams will practice loading liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen into the rocket's core and intermediate cryogenic propulsion stage and reach a steady state replenishment of both fuels. The teams will evaluate the data obtained and prepare plans for the next launch.

In the meantime, NASA directs the Artemis team to continue preparations for testing and the subsequent launch, including preparations to ensure adequate fuel and gas reserves for refueling, as well as planning flight operations for the mission. NASA has requested the following launch opportunities: 23 and 27 September. NASA will change the dates if necessary.
