New media editor in Telegram brings blur tool and enhanced text options

Telegram has released an update featuring an updated media editor with a range of new tools for editing images and videos. One new feature is a blur tool that allows users to obscure certain areas of a photo or video, such as to hide sensitive information or blur the faces of people appearing in the background. To make the blurred area more seamless, the update includes an eyedropper tool to match the color of the blur brush with the image.

In addition, users can now customize the size, font, and background of text when adding it to photos or videos, similar to Instagram or Snapchat.

Telegram has introduced new drawing tools that adjust line width depending on drawing speed and smooth out lines automatically. Shapes such as circles, arrows, chat bubbles, rectangles, and stars can also be easily added to images using the "plus" icon in the editor. Additionally, a spoiler effect has been added, which allows users to apply a "shimmering layer" to images or videos that hides their content until tapped by the recipient.

In addition to these image editing tools, Telegram's latest update includes new storage options that allow users to automatically remove cached data in private chats, groups, and channels after a set period of time, while excluding certain chats. It has also added a pie chart feature showing the amount of storage used by different types of files like photos, videos, music, and documents.

Telegram has introduced some new settings that allow you to customize profile pictures for individual contacts. These images will only be visible to you, so they can be a way to remind yourself of someone's appearance or to use an unflattering picture as a joke. You can also suggest profile pictures for your contacts, who can choose to use them if they wish. Additionally, you can now set a public profile picture that is visible to all users, or opt to make your profile picture visible to nobody if you prefer to keep it private.
