New rumors about the upcoming iPhone 17 lineup have surfaced, with insider Jeff Pu shedding light on Apple’s potential innovations.

According to Pu, Apple is sticking to its plan to replace the iPhone 17 Plus with the iPhone 17 Slim, which is rumored to feature the thinnest design in the lineup at just 6mm. For comparison, the previous thinnest iPhone, the iPhone 6, had a thickness of 6.9mm.

However, Pu predicts that the iPhone 17 Slim may struggle to become a bestseller due to compromises Apple might make to achieve its ultra-slim profile. Reports suggest the device could feature a smaller battery, potentially losing the standout battery life that has been a key feature of the iPhone 16 Plus and iPhone 15 Plus.

The insider also revealed that the iPhone 17 Pro Max is likely to sport a smaller Dynamic Island, made possible by the adoption of advanced metalens technology. Additionally, Apple’s A19 and A19 Pro processors will reportedly be manufactured using TSMC's N3P process instead of the N3E process used for the A18 in the iPhone 16 models. This shift is expected to increase transistor density, improving both performance and energy efficiency.

Pu further noted that Apple’s move to a 2nm process is unlikely to happen before 2026.
