Telegram rolls out major update for group calls, gifts, and more

Telegram has rolled out one of its biggest updates of 2025.

The app now includes live comments and reactions in group calls, contact notes, the ability to suggest birthdays, new profile colors, a Liquid Glass design, and much more.

Comments and Reactions in Group Calls

Participants in group calls and video chats can now leave comments and send reactions in real time. Messages and emojis briefly appear on everyone’s screen, allowing users to show support or ask questions without interrupting the conversation.

The feature is available in calls with up to 1,000 participants. To send a message, tap the Message button — if you send only an emoji, it will appear as an animated reaction.

New iOS 26 Design

Telegram for iPhone now features an updated interface in the Liquid Glass style, matching Apple’s iOS 26 visual concept.

Navigation elements, keyboards, sticker panels, and menus now include transparent layers and a refraction effect — a soft light-bending animation while scrolling. Telegram says it will gradually expand support for Apple’s new design standards.

Notes for Contacts

You can now add private notes to your contacts. Notes are visible only to you and appear under the About section in a user’s profile.

To add a note: open the contact’s profile → Add to Contacts → Edit. You can also assign a custom photo or cover image.

Suggested Birthdays

A new option allows users to suggest adding a birthday to someone’s profile.

When you send a suggestion, a message will appear in the chat, the recipient can confirm their date of birth with one tap.

New Profile Color Settings

You can now adjust your profile’s appearance directly from the main settings screen.

In addition to preset color themes, users can use backgrounds and patterns from received gifts. Some collectible gifts unlock unique reply styles.

Improved Gift Interface

Telegram has redesigned the interface for sending and upgrading gifts.

It’s now more intuitive — all available options, including the marketplace, are listed in one place.

You can also remove gift captions.

Gifts stored on the blockchain can now be displayed on your Telegram profile after linking your account to Fragment.

The update also shows the exact time when the price to upgrade a gift will drop.

AI Bot Improvements

Telegram has expanded support for AI platforms and language models. Developers can now monetize their bots through paid subscriptions and offer additional premium features to users.

The update also adds progressive response rendering, making AI conversations appear smoother and more natural.
