The Telegram beta for Android has received a series of major updates, including an AI message editor, Live Photo support and expanded polling features.

AI message editor

The beta introduces a new AI Editor that allows users to edit messages directly in the input field. The feature appears via an AI button and offers the following options:

  • Translate text
  • Change message tone
  • Fix mistakes

Different writing styles are available, along with an “emojify” option that adds emojis using AI. After processing, the generated text can be instantly inserted into the chat.

The beta notes that basic access includes a limited number of generations, while Telegram Premium subscribers receive a usage limit that is 50 times higher.

New poll features

Telegram has significantly upgraded its Polls feature. Users can now add descriptions, photos and even separate images for each answer option.

Poll settings are also more flexible. Users can disable revoting, shuffle answers for each participant or limit polls by time. The full list of new options includes:

  • Show who voted
  • Allow multiple answers
  • Let participants add options
  • Allow revoting
  • Shuffle options for each voter
  • Set one or multiple correct answers
  • Limit poll duration with automatic closing

Agent bots

Telegram is also introducing the ability to create agent bots based on a main bot. Using a Mini App inside the bot, developers can allow other users to create agents that replicate the behaviour of the original bot.

Agent bots will be marked as running on top of the main bot. The feature may be related to Telegram’s recent collaboration with the OpenClaw project.

Visual changes

Interaction indicators in the chat list have also been updated.

Notifications in chat lists now appear as separate icons and can be displayed simultaneously. These include:

  1. Poll interaction indicator
  2. Reaction to your message
  3. Mention in chat

Previously, reactions and mentions overlapped. Now they appear together.

Live Photo support

Telegram has added support for Live Photos. Users can send them if their device supports capture, including some Samsung, iPhone and Google Pixel models.

If a device does not support Live Photo capture, users will still be able to view them. Live Photos animate automatically when opened.
