The next major version of watchOS, set to be unveiled at WWDC in June, will introduce notable updates to the design of the smartwatch's user interface.

Apple Watch users can expect significant changes to the user interface with the release of watchOS 10, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.

While recent iterations of watchOS have focused on incremental improvements to features such as activity tracking, Gurman believes this year's update will be a "fairly extensive upgrade."

This news comes as a contrast to a relatively minor year in terms of hardware, with the next significant update expected to arrive next year, featuring the first Apple Watch to boast a micro-LED display.
