Microsoft has announced Dragon Copilot, a new AI-powered assistant for healthcare professionals.

Its primary goal is to reduce the workload on doctors by automating documentation and information retrieval, allowing them to spend more time with patients instead of computers.

Dragon Copilot combines Dragon Medical One (voice notes and medical history transcription) and DAX Copilot(medical documentation automation)—both developed by Nuance Communications, which Microsoft acquired in 2021.

The AI assistant can:

  • Automatically generate and update medical records in real time.
  • Summarize patient visits and provide treatment recommendations.
  • Search reliable medical sources for information.
  • Respond to doctors’ queries and provide references from trusted sources like the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Dragon Copilot will be available on mobile, browser, and desktop, launching in May 2025 in the U.S. and Canada, with later expansion to the UK, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. Microsoft has yet to reveal subscription pricing.
