The updated pricing will take effect on May 1, 2023 and be applied to all markets.

Microsoft has 10 tariffs, with prices depending on data rates and types of searches. One of them is free, for 1,000 transactions at three per second (3 TPS) for searching images, videos, news, Web pages, spell checking, and more.

For example, the S1 premium rate now costs $7 for 1,000 transactions at 250 TPS, and will be $25. And visual search at 30 TPS, which now costs $3, will go up to $15. Microsoft stated:

We periodically assess the value and pricing of our services to meet market demands and align the pricing of our products and services with customer consumption trends and preferences.

In 2019, the company invested $1 billion in OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, and in January 2023 confirmed a new "multi-billion dollar" investment.
