Google has completed a global redesign of its Workspace app icons across Android, iOS, and the web. As 9to5Google reports, the company has framed the change as part of its new visual identity, which it calls the Gemini Era, and as an effort to make app icons more recognizable on smartphone screens.
The rollout began on May 18, one day before Google I/O 2026. Web versions received the new logos first, followed by the iOS apps on May 26. The Android rollout took the longest, with Gmail being the last app to receive the updated icon. The redesign affected a broad list of services, including Google Calendar, Tasks, Chat, Meet, Google Drive, Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Keep, Voice, Google Forms, Sites, and Vids.

The most noticeable visual shift is the move toward single-color icons. Most Workspace services now use one primary color in place of the previous multicolor palette. There are two exceptions to the rule. Google Drive has kept its three-color design, while Gmail remains the only app to feature all four of Google's signature colors. The Gmail icon retains its original shape but now uses a more saturated red tone for better visibility on screens.
The update continues a broader visual overhaul of Google's brand identity, which has already extended to Google Search, Gemini, Google Home, Google Photos, Google Maps, Wallet, and several other products in the company's lineup.
