Dubai has hosted Red Bull Tetris, the first live, playable Tetris installation powered by drones.

The 150-meter Dubai Frame acted as the game’s outline, while 4,000 coordinated drones acted as the falling blocks.

A dedicated supercomputer processed players’ inputs in real time and transmitted the commands to the drones, which changed position and colour to replicate the gameplay.

Tetris was originally developed by Soviet programmer Alexey Pajitnov in the 1980s. Its global expansion was driven by entrepreneur Henk Rogers, who helped bring the game to international markets and build it into a long-standing global franchise.
