This Monday’s marked with Apple preview of iOS 16, delivering the update to the Lock Screen that make it more personal and helpful. iOS 16 also introduces iCloud Shared Photo Library aimed at sharing photos with family members. Besides, IOS 16 implies updates to Messages and Mail that help users stay in touch due to improvements to Live Text and Visual Look Up. Wallet Adds Apple Pay Later allows users to split the cost while CarPlay guarantees deeper integration between phones and cars' hardware.

With a new multilayered effect brought to the Lock Screen, the subjects of photos are set in front of the time on the Lock Screen, which creates a sense of depth. What’s more, users can change the look of the date and time with different styles and color options. The Lock Screen widgets make it easier for users to quickly receive information, including upcoming events, weather, battery levels, alarms, Activity ring progress, etc.

A new Lock Screen gallery includes Apple collections with different thematic wallpapers. Users can also create their own different Lock Screens using favorite emoji and color combinations and switch between the Screens with just a swipe.

Live Activities is a new feature that helps users stay in touch with events happening in real time: sports games, workouts, food delivery order, etc. Plus, notifications have been redesigned and now roll up from the bottom.

Focus is now easier to set up, and now connects to the Lock Screen, allowing users to tie a Lock Screen wallpaper and widgets to a particular Focus by simply swiping to the corresponding Lock Screen.

The Separate iCloud Shared Photo Library provides up to six family members with a new mode to contribute, edit and share photos and videos both manually and automatically. Users can share existing photos from their personal libraries or share pictures based on a start date or people in the photos with the help of intelligent suggestions.

Due to the enhances brought to IOS 16, users can edit or recall recently sent messages, restore recently deleted messages and mark conversations as unread. In addition, SharePlay makes it possible to use synced  content land and shared playback controls while having chats in Messages.

Now users can schedule emails and cancel delivery of a message before it reaches a recipient’s inbox. Mail detects if the user forgot to include an important part of the message. Moreover, Follow Up suggestions automatically remind users to follow up on an email if they have not received a response.

On-device intelligence used in Live Text to recognize text in images across iOS expands to include videos. Live Text also enables users to convert currency, translate texts, and more. Visual Look Up introduces a new feature that allows users to tap and hold on the subject of an image to lift it from the background and place it in different apps.

Built into Apple Wallet, Apple Pay Later allows US users to split the cost of an Apple Pay purchase into four equal payments distributed over six weeks, excluding fees of any kind. Users can use Apple Pay Later when they are checking out with Apple Pay, or in Wallet. Additionally, due to Apple Pay Order Tracking, users can receive detailed checks and order tracking information in Wallet for Apple Pay purchases. Moreover, users can exploit their ID in Wallet for applications requiring identity and age verification.

In an attempt to integrate with a car’s hardware CarPlay will be able to provide content for multiple screens, allowing users to do things like control the radio or change the climate directly through the system. By using the vehicle data, CarPlay renders the speed, fuel level, temperature, and more. Additionally, users will be able to choose different gauge cluster designs and have instant review from Weather and Music right on the car’s dashboard.
