Apple is reportedly planning to unveil its first foldable smartphone in September, according to The Korea JoongAng Daily, citing supply chain sources.
Earlier, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman also said the company was preparing to enter the foldable device market in the second half of 2026.

Sources say mass production of flexible OLED panels for the foldable iPhone is set to begin in May. Samsung Display will supply the screens, with the initial batch expected to include around 9 million panels. However, insiders note that September remains a tentative target and the timeline could still shift.
On January 5 at CES 2026, Samsung Display showcased a new generation of flexible OLED panels with a significantly reduced crease compared to previous versions.
The company claims the updated design minimizes visual distortion caused by glare and shadows along the fold. According to sources, the display uses ultra-thin glass layers on both sides, along with a metal plate beneath the panel, which further helps reduce crease visibility.
