Apple Applies for Registration of “Reality” Trademarks that May Be Associated with AR/VR Headsets

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported that Apple has filed trademark registrations for "Reality Pro", "Reality One" and "Reality Processor" in the US, EU, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica and Uruguay through a law firm. According to Gurman, they could be linked to future virtual and augmented reality devices.

Apple used the law firm Immersive Health Solutions LLC, which was incorporated in February, to register the trademarks. The company itself was registered by another Delaware shell corporation, Corporation Trust Co, which is commonly used for filings by firms wanting to avoid detection.

According to Gurman, Apple intends to release its first mixed reality headset for the high-end market segment in 2023, but development of the device has encountered some difficulties with camera sensors, software and overheating.

Apple is expected to introduce the first headset, codenamed N301, which will be one of the most powerful and expensive models on the market. The company is also set to introduce the next generation headset, codenamed N602, as well as a lightweight pair of N421 augmented reality glasses. Inside Apple, the devices are sometimes referred to as "Reality."

As for the "Reality Processor" trademark, it may refer to the processor for the headset with M2 and 16GB of memory, but Gurman believes that additional processing technology will be needed to handle high-resolution VR and AR graphics.

The operating system the headset will use could be called "realityOS". Apple's headset would allow it to work with apps like Maps and FaceTime in virtual reality, as well as interact within a group of users. In addition, the headset will allow you to view media content and monitor your health.
