The updated version has improved image quality, diversified outputs, expanded stylistic range, better image prompting and more.

One of the first who indicated a progression in image generation using AI-imager Midjourney v5 was a graphic designer Julie Wieland. She explained the difference 'like finally getting glasses after ignoring bad eyesight for a little bit too long'. The designer also twittered:

"Suddenly you see everything in 4k, it feels weirdly overwhelming but also amazing."

Julie Wieland has shared a comparison between outputs from Midjourney v3, v4, and v5. The progression is significant.

The generated images are getting incredibly realistic, for example, skin texture, facial features and shadows are visibly improved.

With the release of version 5 even the issue with human hands is also solved.

"Hands are correct most of the time, with 5 fingers instead of 7-10 on one hand," said Wieland.

The Internet is full of examples of such images generated with MJ v5.
