LinkedIn has been using user data to train generative AI models without prior user consent, according to reports.

The social network quietly updated its privacy policy, allowing data to be used for AI training, which has already been implemented. Users can now opt-out of future AI training by adjusting their settings under the "Data for Generative AI Improvement" tab, though this will not reverse past usage.

The update comes after similar revelations from Meta, which also admitted to scraping user data for AI training. Users in the EU, EEA, and Switzerland are excluded from LinkedIn’s AI training practices.
