Microsoft plans to add next Call of Duty to Xbox Game Pass

Microsoft plans to bring the upcoming Call of Duty installment to Xbox Game Pass, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The announcement is expected during the Xbox showcase on June 9th.

The decision follows internal debates at Microsoft about the potential impact on Call of Duty's revenue, given that new releases traditionally sell over 20 million copies at around $70 each. The Wall Street Journal report does not clarify if Microsoft will charge extra for Call of Duty on Game Pass or if there will be an increase in the Game Pass Ultimate subscription fee.

Activision is aiming for a late October release for the new Call of Duty, rumored to be set during the 1990s Gulf War. Additionally, Microsoft is expected to announce a new Gears of War game during the showcase, along with release dates for other titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Avowed, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
