According to Ross Young, an analyst at DSCC, production of display panels for the new MacBook is being accelerated by Apple's suppliers, indicating that the launch may be imminent.

As per Young's analysis, the production of 15-inch MacBook Air panels commenced in February, and was increased in March. Production is anticipated to increase again in April ahead of the official announcement of the new laptop in the coming weeks.

However, the exact launch date of the new MacBook Air remains unknown, with some reports contradicting each other. While Young speculates a late April or early May release, 9to5Mac's sources suggest that the launch could take place at WWDC 2023 in June.

Sources from 9to5Mac have confirmed that Apple is developing a new MacBook Air generation with the yet-to-be-announced M3 chip. This generation will consist of two models, one with a 13-inch display and another with a 15-inch display, code-named J513 and J515, respectively.

The company is also planning to upgrade the 13-inch MacBook Pro with the M3 chip, following the announcement of the M2 chip at WWDC 2022 last June. Both the new chip and the first Macs equipped with it are likely to be announced at this year's conference.

The M3 chip will have an 8-core CPU, just like M1 and M2. There won't be any more powerful versions of the M3 chip for either the MacBook Air or the 13-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple is expected to announce new hardware at WWDC 2023, including its first mixed-reality headset. There were rumors about a new generation Studio Display with Mini-LED panel and ProMotion technology, but Ross Young confirmed that the project has been put on hold, at least for now.

It's important to note that WWDC 2023 is scheduled to take place from June 5-9, with a special opening event at Apple Park.
