The UAE will now offer citizens working for the government paid leave to start a business. Civil servants who take advantage of the scheme will be paid half their salary for one year.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, announced that the Cabinet has approved the move, after unveiling a social welfare programme.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum tweeted:

We are looking to encourage our young people to benefit from the major opportunities offered by our national economy.

In addition, at the last meeting in Abu Dhabi, the cabinet approved AED 2.4 billion in housing loans for 500 Emiratis over the next six months.
