Users report changes to YouTube embedded player layout

Users have started reporting changes to the YouTube embedded player interface, where the share button appears to replace the pause control.

The change was first noticed by user Lance McDonald, who suggested the new placement could lead to more accidental taps on the share button.

On March 28, 2026, Android Authority reported that users on Reddit began complaining about the new layout. According to the publication, the changes affect the embedded player rather than the main YouTube website.

Screenshots shared by Android Authority show that instead of a traditional share button, users now see a copy link option. The play and pause control remains in the center of the screen, while the link-copy button appears in the bottom-left corner.

YouTube last updated its video player interface in October 2025, introducing rounded buttons and reorganising controls. Like, dislike, comments and save were grouped into a single panel, while subscription and description controls moved to the left, with settings and subtitles placed on the right.
